The people of Bannu are known as the Banisee and they are really ethnocentric.
By ethnicity, they are Pushtoons.
The population consists of native-born called Banisees, Wazirs that have migrated from Waziristan, Marwats, and Khataks.
98% of the population practices the Sunni branch of Islam while the other 2% is a combination of Shia and Christians.
They are known for their hospitality.
People of Bannu, in a sense are fanatics. As they go to extremes in both friendliness and hostilities.
One very bad misconception about Bannu people is that they are homosexuals and/or bisexuals but the fact is they are not. To say the right thing, these factors may exist in any community and they are not bound to be from Bannu.
The backwardness in people of Bannu is gradually disappearing as they are heading towards urban areas.
